Well, I did it.

After two months of shoddy support and waning interest, I went ahead and sold all my Warcraft miniatures on ebay. After looking at the disconnect between buy-it-now it now prices and the prices people were actually bidding, I decided to go the Billy Mays route and just throw in a bunch of stuff free. Free carrying case, free loot cards (one of them a rare, but not very sell-able one) and put in all my Battleground minis with the silver bases.

I set the minimum bid at 99 cents and the buyout at approx 65% of what I payed for everything: 400 dollars. I was hoping to get at least 250 for it, with a small chance of getting the full amount.

Someone snatched it up an hour and a half after I posted.

Seriously, I went to check to see if anyone had bid and was perplexed. It disappeared from my selling screen. I checked my email and realized why.

So, in the end I got about a years worth of fun out of it and was able to sell it for a reasonable price. I just wish UDE had spent more time marketing and trying to accomodate people who wanted to play both TCG and Minis.

In any case, I'll be selling my TCG stuff as well, most likely next weekend. This gives me hope.

Jon's post about potentially purchasing a new car reminded me of the best Top Gear bit ever.

If you've never seen Top Gear before..... just watch the whole thing.

Wow.

And Lady Gaga takes celebrity shock publicity to the next level.

Why am I getting one of those weird "hindsight is 20-20" feelings.

Friday afternoon I had my semi-annual physical readiness test.

I managed to complete the 1.5 mile run 55 seconds faster than last time. If anyone is wondering, I haven't smoked in 6 months. Coincidence?

Also, Rhythm Heaven for the DS is absolutely amazing.

I'm getting a little outraged over the "outrage" over AIG's executive bonuses.

So, you are telling me a company that uses less than half a percent of its loan money on executive bonuses that were negotiated and settled well before the loan was ever issued (therefore they would have been liable for it regardless,) and would probably have seen litigation if AIG had not payed the money it promised, is in the wrong? I mean, yeah, the whole situation seems silly, but honestly it is money people negotiated for and earned (even if it was not deserved, really.)

Now, Obama steps in and starts trying to nix the whole deal, when one of the stipulations that allowed the bill to pass was the current high (if not non-existant) cap on exectuive bonuses. So you are using your executive authority to reneg on an earlier deal?

I agree, it is far from right and it certainly isn't fair, but the law is the law, people. They were due to recieve this money, so it is theirs.

In a perfect world they would refuse the money, but if people were that nice, we would not be in this mess to begin with.

Two wrongs does not necessarily always make a wrong, but it certainly never makes a right.

Snow Day!

There was enough snow to cancel school today, which means I have the day off. Of course I had to go in anyways to make sure all the doors were unlocked and the sidewalks clear.

On the way I saw a 4x4 Jeep blow by everyone going through 6 inches of fresh snow, and I honked at him to slow down, but he didn't and nailed the snow-plow that we were all following when it was making a left-hand turn at the next intersection. I just don't get some people.

I have been awoken in some very pleasurable ways.

I have also been awoken in some frightening ways.

The worst way to wake up, however, is because a cat is coughing up a gnarly hairball about 2 feet from your head. At first I thought someone was trying to kill Karin, then I realized Karin is on the other side of me and just as freaked out.

Then I saw Fox making the typical stomach contractions associated with a hairball and I knew what was happening. Jesus.

In other news, I came in seconds place last night with my Goblin Shredder with two Enraged Fire Spirits team. I might have been able to win the first match, but I played these guys terribly that match.

I finally won myself a Daxin Firesworn at the last Battleground I could possibly do so. It felt pretty good, except I kinda feel bad just stomping people with my Haruka-Thangal-Ojo'mon team.

Anyways, the figure for next month is an Arakkoa. Friday I'll get a chance at one, I can't wait. I don't know if I want to stay with the HTO, or go with the HHT. Obviously HHT is a stronger team, but it also costs 4 more honor. The best part about Ojo'mon is he can use the great Shaman ABC's, and can bring in his normal attack for a closer. So basically I can move both Shamans on the first turn, drop a totem with each on the second, along with a Starfire with Thangal, go into bear form after the Starfire and taunt attacks, on the third tick whomp out some chain lightnings, then tick 6 I can do Haruka's melee, hopefully kill the character with the melee, crit and flameshock another character, drop either a swipe or pop out of bear and do his magic, depending on the resist of the remaining enemies, and if I need to, come out with a normal Ojo'mon melee to drop whoever is still standing. With Thangal's buff I can pretty much destroy all three opponents by turn 6. Most of the time people are already ticked up to the point that they can't come back into attack range until after tick 10, allowing me to reset the ABC's and start all over again. I have yet to have a match go beyond tick 13 because all I need is 4 kills and 4 VP's, instead of the standard 5 kills +4 with the HHT.

However, with the advent of BoK, this might bring Pally's into the game more. At first glance it looks kinda silly, but most people don't bring any sort of dispell (or cleanse for that matter, but I digress) which would allow you to really wound out a weak character. Imagine Vindicator Hodoon with two Phadalus x2. Even a HHH or HHT would have trouble hurting you once you get some BoK up (Three 4 armor/3 resist characters, absolutely nuts.) About the only team that could take you is a Daxin x2 + healer. With one seemingly innocent card they nerf rush teams and really stress the importance of control.

Anyways.

Many things have happened.

The house is coming together much better. I think what really needs to happen now is a WHOLE bunch of stuff gets thrown in the basement (in boxes, of course.)

I got a new TV. It is purdy. It wasn't too terribly expensive, but it got rave reviews and if I had gone to best-buy one day earlier I would have received a free xbox 360 with it. Dang it.

It also snowed:

Also, I now own a crap-ton of WoW miniatures, and I am rather enjoying playing the game.

Ok, so we are almost ready to go! Just need to pack the car and arrange for shipping somethings that did not get packed.

In other news, one of the cats got out yesterday afternoon and after 2 hours of frantic searching he comes walking in the front door like nothing was wrong. Silly cat. By the way, guys, please don't just wait and try and take care of things yourself. Call your wife and let her know ASAP. She won't be as mad as if you didn't call. I called right away and everything was fine.

But, onto better subjects. I found a new website.

http://www.armorgames.com

I highly recommend this and this and this. There are many more, but even that first game should keep you interested for hours. The other two aren't nearly as long-lived, but they are absolutely hilarious.

So here I am, sitting alone in a mostly empty apartment. Currently in the apartment are:

-Two suitcases, almost full
-Pillow
-Blanket
-Laptop
-Cable modem

Also, playing wow with a laptop on the floor is hella hard on your back.

Hella.

I just finished the final final final revision to my thesis. However, I will still have the final final final final revision to do tomorrow morning. Tonight's revision had me reformat all my images and figures as .png vice .jpg. The nice thesis processing lady was right; it took my word file size down from 33 MB to just 5 MB. Very nice.

Also apparently they never got the paperwork I submitted for a color print thesis? Anyways.

Have a good night internets. I will see you tomorrow.

Dear 54% of the 18% of precincts reporting: Fuck you.

I'm staying up for this one.

Also, if any of you missed Obama's speech tonight, look it up. It'll probably be on youtube or hulu soon. Seriously, it was good.

Also, on a lighter noteCollapse )

Remember to vote NO on Proposition 8 people!

Also, remember to your friends and family about it and at least try and sway those who are thinking of voting the other way. Pick up some talking points from the various websites, or hell just look at the arguments on the actual legislation.

Of course what am I saying, you all probably already are doing all this.

But just in case you aren't.

Please.
